ShelfSum

Terms of Use

Effective date: 2026-09-13

These terms describe use of the ShelfSum app, website and support service. Contact: sameddev@protonmail.com.

What ShelfSum does

ShelfSum helps you estimate a shopping total by entering or scanning prices, reviewing quantities and tax assumptions, tracking a budget and saving trip summaries locally. It is not a retailer, supermarket checkout, payment processor, official receipt issuer, tax authority or tax adviser.

Estimates require your review

Recognized names and prices are suggestions. Shelf labels may contain package prices, unit prices, old prices, member offers or promotions, and OCR can select the wrong value. Review each item before adding it. A barcode identifies a product and may recall a value you previously entered; it does not provide a guaranteed live store price.

Your checkout amount can differ because of promotions, deposits, fees, rounding, tax treatment or input mistakes. Verify the retailer's actual bill. Saved trip summaries are planning records, not official retailer receipts or proof of purchase.

Currency, quantity and tax settings

Changing a currency setting does not convert money. Match weighted quantities to the unit used by the price. Shopping profiles are simplified user-configurable assumptions, not a country tax-law engine. You are responsible for confirming the rate and whether it applies to an item.

Local data and availability

This release has no ShelfSum cloud account or guaranteed remote backup. Device deletion, storage failure or an interrupted save can affect local records. Manual entry is available when scanning cannot be used. Keep separate records when an official record matters.

App Store license

For an App Store download, Apple's standard licensed-application end-user license agreement applies unless the App Store listing states that a valid custom agreement applies. These ShelfSum terms supplement that license and do not reduce mandatory consumer rights.

Acceptable use and intellectual property

Use the app, website and support channels lawfully. Do not intentionally disrupt services, attempt unauthorized access, or send unlawful or harmful material. ShelfSum's original app/website materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws; third-party software remains subject to its own licenses.

Pricing and future changes

Any price for the app or future paid feature will be shown through the applicable App Store purchase flow before you buy it. The current release does not contain an in-app subscription or in-app purchase flow. Visiting this website or emailing support does not create a charge.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains local app storage, camera/photo processing, website technical information and support communications.

Responsibility and mandatory rights

We do not promise that an estimate will equal the final amount charged by a retailer or that recognition will never make an error. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Ending use, changes and contact

You can stop using ShelfSum at any time and remove local data through the app/device controls described under Privacy choices. These terms may be updated when the service or legal requirements change; the effective date will be updated for material changes. Questions or complaints can be sent to sameddev@protonmail.com.
